Alcohol Use Disorder ( AUD) is a medical condition characterized by lack of control over alcohol consumption having negative social, health and economic consequences. AUD is also referred to as : alcoholism, alcohol dependence or alcohol addiction.

Over 29 million people have AUD but less than  one percent receive  medication for their alcohol use.

Medications that are FDA approved  for AUD include: Naltrexone, Acamprosate, and  Disulfiram. Other medications used include: Toprimate, Gabapentin and benzodiazepines.

At Acupuncture and Injury, we offer screening for Alcohol Use Disorder and outpatient treatment for those individuals who are candidates for outpatient treatment. We also provide continuity of care for patients who need treatment after being discharged from an inpatient facility.
